The Johnny Cash Show debuts this day in 1969 on ABC.  This great variety music show showcased the talents of Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Cream, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many others.  Here's Johnny singing "Pretty Woman" with Roy Orbison.  The 2 were Sun Records label mates in the mid 50's.

Alex Orbison is our guest this hour as we talk about a couple of recent releases from his dad Roy Orbison.  We go in depth about the 13 CD The MGM Years box set and the previously unreleased One Of The Lonely Ones.  We start the show off playing tunes from Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Dion.  They were the 4 headliners from 1959's Winter Dance Party.  The plane crash killing Buddy, Bopper and Ritchie happened 57 years ago on February 3, 1959.  Be sure to also check out the bonus interview footage with Alex Orbison to hear more great stories and tunes!

Happy Birthday James Burton

James Burton was born this day in Dubberly, LA in 1939.  Burton is one of the most recognized guitarists for his work with artists like Ricky Nelson, Elvis Presley, Dale Hawkins, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and so many more.  He's members of both the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame.

Remembering Cowboy Jack Clement

Cowboy Jack Clement passed away this day at age 82 after suffering with liver cancer.  The impact his songs and production had on the music world is staggering.  He recorded Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Billy Lee Riley, Johnny Cash, Charley Pride, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., Townes Van Zandt and U2 among many others.  Just a small sampling of songs he wrote include "Ballad Of A Teenage Queen", "Guess Things Happen That Way", "Just A Girl I Used To Know" and more.
