Celebrating Roots music, Rockabilly, Blues, early Rock, Surf and how they all connect
James,We're home from vacation and just getting a chance to check out your web site.Love it and, of course, love your interview with JD McPherson and the "No Fear in McPherson" reference from his Aunt Genie. LOLKeep up the great work!!Genie McPherson Durden
Hello "Aunt Genie"!:) It was great to meet you in Nashville. What a great show at both Grimeys Record Store and at 3rd & Lindsley. Hope it was a great trip here for you. Thanks for the kind words about the site and the interview!-James
You have impressive list of rockin' artists. May I recommend few more? Australian Pat Capocci is one of the best and hardworking guitarist/singers at the rockabilly scene. He has new "Call Of The Wild" record out from Press-Tone Records. http://youtu.be/hBUde62ayTkAnd the other Australian Rusty Pinto has voice that brings shivers. His new record is called "Way Out Here".http://youtu.be/RavSEccU0e0
James,I'm hoping you can answer something for me. My wife and I saw Brian Setzer in Atlantic City, - again - on Nov. 30. He had some one come out during the second half of the show and do some rockabilly tunes with him. Most notably Peggy Sue. Do you know who it was, or can you find out. I have been looking for a couple of weeks now and there is no reference to him. I'm hoping to get a CD of is for my wife for Christmas as a surprise. Thanks,Tommy
I haven't been able to find info on who that was. I see that a trio named Firebird was to be the opener on this tour but I haven't seen any mention of a special guest. I'll keep searching.
My grandparents recently passed away, and while we were cleaning out their things, my mother came across an original photo that looks very much like Buddy Holly when he was just starting out. My grandparents grew up in Texas, therefore, we thought this could be a strong possibility, but we have no idea how or where they came up with this picture. I was wondering if you knew who I could send a copy of the photo to so we can verify our thoughts as to who is in the picture! Please let me know! Thanks for your time.
Hello Peri! Thanks so much for the message. If you are able to scan it, email it to me at email@example.com. I do know a couple of people that were close to Buddy that might be able to shed some light on it. My email is: firstname.lastname@example.org.
