Gene Vincent was born this day in 1935.  Gene was an early pioneer of Rockabilly and continued recording until the time of his death in 1971,  He's a member of both the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame as well as the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.  Enjoy some of Gene's hits here-

The Beach Boys' Bruce Johnston sent over this great vintage shot (probably circa 1970) as he's flanked by among others, Gene Vincent and Del Shannon, both of whom have sadly passed away.  One can only imagine the conversation that happened then.

Jukebox Heroes: Elvis Presley

This will be a periodic feature that highlights what 45's artists have on their jukebox.  Stay tuned for more in the future.  This entry highlights some of the 45's on Elvis' jukebox from Graceland.  The above picture is actually a jukebox located at Sun Studios in Memphis.  Elvis' personal jukebox at Graceland was a great collection of Rock, Soul, Blues and R&B.  Vee-Tone Records put out 3 volumes of CD's highlighting the music found there:

This day in rock history- Gene Vincent's contract with Capitol expires

April 22nd, 1963 marked the end of Gene Vincent's run at Capitol Records.  Those recordings on Capitol proved a huge influence on the rockabilly sound and style.  Just 3 years before this he was involved in a serious car crash that killed his good friend Eddie Cochran while they were on tour in the UK.  Here's Gene doing his smash hit "Be-Bop-A-Lula".
