Johnny Cash was born this day in 1932

Johnny Cash was born on February 26th, 1932 in Kingsland, AR. His legacy and influence is far reaching.  He was elected in the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1977, the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 1980 and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992.  While it would be impossible to post all of his hits, here's a brief snapshot into the career of The Man In Black.  RIP Johnny!

This week, we celebrate the life and music of Carl Lee Perkins!  Carl was born on April 9th, 1932.  Even though he passed away in 1998, his musical legacy is still strong!  Joining me in the studio is writer and fellow rockabilly enthusiast, Randy Fox.  You may recognize his name from publications such as Vintage Rock, Goldmine, Nashville Scene, Record Collector and others.  We'll bring you some of Carl's classics, obscure gems and select covers from Dion, Robert Gordon with Link Wray and Sid King & The Five Strings.  This is one you don't want to miss!

Del Shannon was born this day in 1934

Del Shannon was born this day in 1934 in Grand Rapids, MI.  He was born Charles Weedon Westover and changed to his stage name at the time of his record deal with Bigtop Records in 1960.  His biggest hit came the following year in 1961 with "Runaway" which hit the top of the charts.  He followed with hits like "Hats Off To Larry" and "Little Town Flirt".  He's also the first American artist to cover a Beatles song.  His version of "From Me To You" hit the US charts before The Beatles original version did.  Here's a look back at some of his great tunes...
