Dorsey Burnette was born this day in 1932

The great Dorsey Burnette was born this day in 1932 in Memphis, TN.  He left us way too soon in August 1979 but he did leave behind a wonderful collection of music.  His son is Billy Burnette who continues to carry on the torch started by his dad.  Before embarking on a solo career that brought us songs like "Hey, Little One", "Tall Oak Tree", "Big Rock Candy Mountain" and so many others, he was part of the influential rockabilly group called The Rock & Roll Trio in the early to mid 50's with his brother Johnny and guitarist Paul Burlison.  Dorsey's slap-bass playing has been of the major influences on anyone playing this style.  They were the punk rock of the day with their wild style.  Check out songs like "Tear It Up", "Train Kept A Rollin'", "Honey Hush" and others and you'll understand.
