Al Jardine was born this day in 1942. Al was born in Lima, OH but the family later moved to San Francisco, CA and then to Hawthorne, CA. He played stand-up bass on the band's first single "Surfin'" but left shortly after to continue college studies in early 1962. He re-joined the band in mid-1963 and remained until 1998 after Carl Wilson's death. His solo project, A Postcard From California, was originally released in 2010 but saw a re-release in April of 2012 with bonus tracks. He re-joined his Beach Boys bandmates last year for a Grammy Awards appearance (the first time the band has performed on the show in their career), an extensive 50th Anniversary tour, new album (That's Why God Made The Radio), DVD, album re-releases and so much more!! He's currently touring with Brian Wilson and David Marks. Find out more here- www.aljardine.com. Happy Birthday Al!!
