Mississippi John Hurt dies this day in 1966

Mississippi John Hurt died this day in 1966 in Grenada, MS.  He initially made recordings in the late 20's.  After they weren't commercially successful and due to the label going out of business during the depression, Hurt moved back to Avalon, MS as sharecropper and playing local dance halls.  He was rediscovered in 1963 and was convinced to do more recordings and touring.  You can hear how much of an influence he was on early Bob Dylan records.  If you're not familiar with Hurt, here's some music to get you introduced...

"You Got To Walk That Lonesome Valley"

"Frankie"

"Candy Man Blues"
