Listen to Dion DiMucci talk about recording "I Wonder Why" and then hearing it all over the neighborhood on the radio in the Bronx.

Springsteen scales Graceland wall in attempt to meet Elvis

Today's rock history moment goes back to 1976 when Bruce Springsteen scales the wall at Graceland in an attempt to meet Elvis.  He was escorted off the grounds.  Here's his cover of "Viva Las Vegas" set to a video montage of some of the best Vegas moments for Elvis.  The Boss covers The King.

This day in rock history- Gene Vincent's contract with Capitol expires

April 22nd, 1963 marked the end of Gene Vincent's run at Capitol Records.  Those recordings on Capitol proved a huge influence on the rockabilly sound and style.  Just 3 years before this he was involved in a serious car crash that killed his good friend Eddie Cochran while they were on tour in the UK.  Here's Gene doing his smash hit "Be-Bop-A-Lula".

Jukebox flashback- Dr. Feelgood- "Mister Moonlight"

The Beatles did a cover of this one on their "Beatles For Sale" album.  This is the original by Dr. Feelgood & The Interns.  Dr. Feelgood is actually Piano Red (Willie Lee Perryman).  He started using "Dr. Feelgood" as a persona he developed for himself as a DJ in Atlanta.  A young James Brown actually appeared on the "Dr. Feelgood Show" in the 50's.

"The Killer" live at Third Man Records 4-17-11

Check out a little glimpse of Jerry Lee Lewis performing live today outside of Third Man Records.  The performance was delayed yesterday during Record Store Day due to weather.  Today was the perfect weather to hear this Hall Of Famer turn in a blistering set of tunes including "Down The Line", "Sweet Little Sixteen", "Drinking Wine Spo-dee-o-dee", "Georgia On My Mind", "Great Balls Of Fire", "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" and many others.  His band included Jack Lawrence (Dead Weather, Raconteurs, Greenhornes), Steve Cropper (Booker T & The MG's, Blues Brothers and Stax Records studio guitarist), and Jim Keltner (drummer for Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Beatles solo efforts, etc).  For a quick second at the start of the video you also see my son meeting Jack White which was a huge thrill for him.

Record Store Day- Nashville video footage

Fun times seeing Jack White, The Rolling Record Store, Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, lots of crowds and lots of vinyl!

Record Store Day April 16, 2011

We talked to Chris Talbott from the associated press while at Third Man Records.  I knew he'd be impressed with my 10 year old son Connor.

This ran all over the country but I just picked one from Billboard.  Check it out here-
